We find swing/lindy dance venues all over the world and frequent Swing 46, The Cotton Club etc because we live in the NYC area.  Initally reluctant about Platforms because it suggests 1970s disco music and that's not our interest, it seems they offer a good variety of  music styles on different nights of the week.  When I first walked in the stripper pole on the upper level  seemed a little creepy, but after that the place is just fun.  The night we were there they had Frankie Manning in HellsA Poppin playing on the tv screens along with many other great moments in Lindy.
 If you don't know Lindy, check out Frankie on youtube -- he invented Lindy in Harlem's Savoy nightclub in the 1930s.  Even if you only like hiphop, if you can't appreciate this, you're just wrong.  Anyway, the decor at Platforms is fun, the crowd is friendly and there is tons of room to dance, even if the black and white dance floor is full.  As always with a lindy crowd, tons of young people mix with people from that generation who know their way around a dance floor  --  walk right in and feel at home.
When the spirit moves you, go upstairs to the chill rooftop bar, Sky 309, where the millennials get loud on weekends. Check out the panoramic downtown views, and then dance to live music and guest DJs until 4 a.m. The rooftop also offers VIP tables, cocktail service and three full bars.

Everything was great until this old zombie came up to our bartender and asked us to close our tab because he was weary about an $800 tab not being paid as most of us were on the dance floor. We had zero intention of leaving any time soon. We had to leave early because of a rude act from an old owner who couldnt trust a birthday party to pay.
We could of paid twice as much before being kicked out. Dont come to this establishment and support a business on the outskirts of Mizner that cant hold up to their standard. Well Im here right now and well drinks are $8. False advertising, Bartenders wouldnt honor the $5. It is a fun place for disco music and meeting peopke. This is where you go when you're retired, it's like walking into one of those 55+ communities.
If you like the older crowd, definitely give this place a visit. You will get wide open space to dance and drink in the cool air conditioning. The music is OK, but the drinks are WAY overpriced! When I asked for a club soda, it was $3. Dedicated drivers dont even get a soda free. Creepy old guy owner said, Its our policy.
My new policy is to stay away from this place. Blue Spring State Parkgets my vote for the best "no boat needed" manatee viewing location. During manatee season, the spring run is closed -- but there are several overlooks and boardwalks along the way. Make a day of exploring the park and watching the manatees.

Great food, really cool you don't have to tip, save me a lot! Had my birthday party at Platforms, loved the music, danced all night, bottle prices were excellent, bartenders were nice and all my guests had a great time. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this place. Bar staff are great even though the drink prices are ridiculous. Female owner literally stalks the place watching everyone.
The security guard attacked a friend of mine for no reason cutting open his head. Police were called but nothing was done. Sat there waiting for them as I saw the bar maid would take other orders and never served ours.
